THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TARGA SEASON: WELCOMING THE JCR 911 TARGA 4 GTS

We had a lot of fun speccing this one, and it’s fair to say we’ve missed having a Targa in the JCR fleet. Our first, finished in Forest Green, joined us back in 2018, and it’s taken until now for us to welcome another. This time, we’ve gone for something a little different: the 992.2 911 Targa 4 GTS in Provence, a car that feels worlds away from the usual track ambitious models we're used too. We're excited to have another 992.2 GTS in the garage to further develop the platform, so watch this space!
When we say we had fun with the spec, we really mean it. We went to town on the details.

Of course, we couldn’t leave things entirely standard. At JCR, we always like to add our own magic, and this Targa was the perfect opportunity to put our stamp on the spec. From the choice of wheels to the finer finishing details, every addition has been carefully considered to complement the Provence paintwork while enhancing the car’s overall stance and presence.

The JCR finishing touches:
Full XPEL Paint Protection Film expertly applied by Onyx Automotive to help protect that beautiful Provence finish.
Porsche / Manthey Racing Lightweight Wheel Set finished in Brilliant Silver for a striking contrast against the purple paintwork.
OEM Turbonite Bonnet Badge a subtle detail that adds a distinctive Porsche finish.
OEM Turbonite Centre Lock Caps matching the bonnet badge for a cohesive look.
H&R Lowering Springs giving the Targa a sharper, more purposeful stance.
JCR-Spec Geometry bringing everything together with our own carefully considered setup.

The result? A Targa that stays true to its Porsche roots, but with a few carefully chosen JCR touches that make it feel that little bit more special.

As much as we love the car as it stands, anyone who knows JCR will know we’re never ones to leave things there. There’s already more in the pipeline for this Targa, with a few JCR upgrades still to come.

On the list so far:
JCR Billet Aluminium Shift Paddles finished in Satin Silver.
JCR 3D-Printed Inconel Race Pipe bringing a little more of the JCR sound and engineering philosophy into the mix.
JCR Ceramic Brake Kit another addition in the works.

And beyond that? We’ve got further developments planned for the 992.2 platform that we’re not quite ready to reveal just yet.

Why Provence?

A few months back we saw a 992.2 GTS in Provence on display when we visited our dealership and instantly fell in love with the colour. There was something so distinctive but understated about it and it automatically made me vision it on a Targa and that's where the story began.

Whenever we had seen Provence on the configurator it really didn't catch our eye, but in real life and seeing it come to life with its unbeatable character in the different lights is arguably one of the best Porsche Colours out there.

Porsche describe Provence on their website as -

'Provence is a light violet hue from the Dreams portion of the Porsche Taycan colors lineup. It is inspired by the beautiful lavender fields of the Provence region in France.'

It's safe to say it's a very special colour and we wouldn't be surprised to see it as a PTS option soon. It's definitely a head turner.

Of course, there’s plenty going on beneath that purple paintwork, too. The 992.2 GTS introduced Porsche’s T-Hybrid system to the 911, pairing a 3.6-litre flat-six with electric assistance for a combined 541 PS. It'll sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.1 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package, with a top speed of 194 mph.

Add the Targa’s distinctive silhouette and all-wheel-drive capability, and you’ve got a car that delivers serious performance without sacrificing the open-air experience that makes a Targa so special.

And that’s what we love about this one. It has the performance to back up its looks, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Exactly how a Porsche should be.

Now, we know we’re in the UK, and October isn’t exactly peak open-top season. But we’d argue there’s something rather special about a crisp, dry autumn morning, the roof off, the heating on and the sound of that flat-six behind you. Suddenly, the British weather doesn’t seem so bad. Also, as you know, we don't shy away from a good challenge and these cars are made for all weather so that is how we use them and look forward to documenting our adventures along the way.

It's about the cars that make you look back after parking, find an excuse to take the long way home and put a smile on your face every time you turn the key, welcome to the fleet JCR Targa.

Thank you to the following people for helping get the JCR Targa JCR ready;
