Article: PRODUCT TESTING AT ANGLESEY CIRCUIT
PRODUCT TESTING AT ANGLESEY CIRCUIT
After what felt like forever, the UK summer break has finally come to an end and it’s time to get back out on track. Our first track of choice was all the way over in North Wales at the beautiful Anglesey Circuit. It’s known for its incredible views over the Irish Sea as well as its challenging and changeable weather, more specifically, sideways rain. More on that soon.
Making the journey over there, we had one thing in mind; testing. During the summer months, we’ve been designing, manufacturing and developing the first iteration of our 'Super Silent' Race Pipe. A rear silencer replacement option that will deliver a significantly quieter than a factory exhaust sound level. The aim of this is to allow you to run on even the strictest track days for noise restrictions. With the majority of UK circuits, as well as Laguna Seca and many others, becoming less and less forgiving when it comes to noise, we thought it was about time that we solved this issue to be able to use our cars properly without having to worry about being black-flagged with a completely stock car.
It's felt a lot like it hasn’t stopped raining in the UK, so for us to be able to drive over to Anglesey with the windows down in glorious sunshine was a real treat. The following day (the day of the track day), the weather returned with a vengeance. With 60 mph winds, horizontal rain, and extremely grey skies, it’s safe to say our media team were very happy to have packed their waterproofs.
With it being our first time at Anglesey in the JCR 992 GT3RS, our first run of the day was to get a feel for the car and the track but also to try out our new ‘Super Silent' race pipe for the very first time in anger. To say we were happy with the results was an understatement. With a 100% stock car typically producing readings of 99-100Db and our car giving a reading of 95-96Db, we were very happy with the initial results. Now, as previously mentioned, the point of this day was testing our new product, so we got as many miles on the system as possible.
After the much-needed lunch break, we decided to install a set of our Titanium Silenced Tips, reducing the decibel reading by a further 4-5Db down to an overall reading of 90-91Db on drive by without compromising performance. With all of this being said, we think there is still room for improvement. So, once we were back at our Warwickshire HQ, it was time to make some minor changes to the design of our super silenced race pipe ahead of our next outings at Silverstone and Donington. As we always say, there’s truly no substitute for real-world testing.
The ideal scenario would be to have our Super Silenced Racepipe installed paired with our Inconel Race Manifolds. This would allow us to truly capitalise on the power gains delivered by our Race manifolds whilst also being able to use our car on track without triggering the noise meter. A tricky task but one that we’ve got our hearts set on achieving. We’ll be back out at Silverstone Circuit and Donington Park soon, testing a whole host of changes made to this system to get that noise reading right down. That’s right, two track days in one day! In addition to the version two race pipe, we will also have our Inconel Race Manifolds installed, providing that power boost that we’ve been looking for without compromising our on-track usability.
After an incredibly successful day at Anglesey, it was time to head back down to JCR HQ and prepare for our next batch of track time. Moving on from our double track day, we’re then heading over to Belgium for our second European road trip of 2024. Once we’re out at Spa, we’ve got a huge surprise for you all, one that we really can’t wait to share.
Keep your eyes peeled across our social media channels for the next instalment. We still have a lot left to be achieved before 2024 is out.
