992.2 GTS - INCONEL DOWNPIPE (CAT DELETE)

Introduction

The latest single turbo T-Hybrid engine package as installed to Porsche's brand new 992.2 GTS models are formidable in stock form however there is always room for improvements to be made, especially in the exhaust system.

Our direct replacement exhaust components not only save weight and improve sound they also deliver solid performance gains without compromise in a direct replacement part with perfect fit.

Light Weight

Through the use of light weight materials and clever design we have managed to significantly reduce the overall weight of the factory 992.2 Carrera GTS exhaust components. Removing weight full stop carries great benefits in any performance vehicle however the gains are exaggerated on this platform, reducing the rear biased weight distribution helps to improve overall balance and handling.

With only our Inconel Cat Delete Downpipe installed, we save a total of 7.71kg (16.99lbs) from the weight of the vehicle which represents a significant 62.2% reduction.

Direct Replacement

All of the JCR 992.2 Carrera GTS exhaust components are direct replacement for their OEM equivalents with guaranteed fit every time. No requirement for any further work during install beyond removing the OEM part and replacing with its JCR equivalent and any supplied hardware.

3D Printed Components

'3D printing' or DMLS / SLM / DMP as it's referred to is a technology which allows complex shapes which would have usually been reserved to casting or multi-axis machining to be created as one off parts without large investments into tooling. This technology is particularly helpful in applications where the geometry of a part required might be outside the normal scope of other manufacturing techniques available.

Whilst this isn't the first use of 3D Printed parts in JCR exhaust systems, our new 992.2 GTS Downpipes certainly feature this production method more extensively to ensure the best possible flow characteristics and performance.

Catalyst Delete

With the JCR Inconel Cat Delete the factory dummy OPF matrix and restrictive cat are removed for maximum performance and sound. Rather than simply removing the Cat from our Race Cat products we created a whole new profile to correctly control the gasses from the turbo flange down to the main flow path to optimise performance.

Future Proofed Design

The design of this exhaust component has to take into consideration the kind of power and torque numbers which this engine package is likely to be able to deliver once the tuning side of things is unlocked. We want to be sure that we create a solution that not only works great at 'factory' boost levels but also will easily handle the kind of flow it'll see once the ECU tuners work their magic and turbo's start being upgraded, too.

With all of that in mind, we made sure to spec the main flow at a sufficient level to flow well north of 1000hp without an issue. With that certainly comes some challenges but we feel it's worth future proofing our design so our customers can be safe in the knowledge that we have it covered from the start.

Power Increase

Every component of the JCR 992.2 GTS Exhaust line is guaranteed to improve HP & TQ with varying results dependant on the combination of parts.

Porsche quote factory HP & TQ numbers at 533.6hp & 570Nm. We found the stock car to be making close to quoted hp numbers but significantly more torque. Stock figures as tested on the day were 543hp & 636.1Nm.

With our Inconel Cat Delete Downpipe installed, the car made a total of 585hp & 676.2Nm which represents a 42hp & 40.1Nm gain versus OEM.

The peak number delta only tells part of the story, as you can see from the graph above, the increase in area under the curve is significant and the improvement in throttle response and transient boost response is significantly improved which makes for a huge leap in real world performance.
